The Atoms softball team was founded in 1994 by Mark R.
Kochanowicz. The first season was played during the summer of 1994 in the
Disston League run by the Philadelphia Department of Recreation. That
following fall season, the team played its games in Lower Bucks County, PA
and had until the summer of 2003. The summer of the 2003 season was a new
chapter in the history of the Atoms in that the team moved back to playing
in Philadelphia. With the influx of several new and old players, the Atoms
constructed a 15 & 5 record, while making it into the playoffs.
The Atoms softball team is a member of the Amateur
Softball Association (ASA) which plays in Pennsylvania's District 15
of the Lower Bucks Softball Association League run by commissioner, Bob
Meyerle. The Atoms/BountyHunters played the summer of 2003 in the City of
Philadelphia Department of Recreation, District Two Softball League. The Atoms
have been classified as
a Men's Slow Pitch Class C team.
The summer 2004 season
will return to the Lower Bucks Softball Association league. The current managerial duties are
shared with fellow player, Dan Hunt, and myself. This year the team is known
as Atoms/Fresh Works.
